Personally, Nicholas (Nick) Eayrs is a proud husband to Dawn, and father to Zachary and Olivia … and two furry babies named Bertie and Caramel.

Professionally, Nick was born in South Africa where he started his career in Data & AI building Management Information Systems (MIS) for companies in South Africa. Nick joined SAS in 2005 where he spent circa 10 years and led the Services technical team across EMEA & APJ.

From 2016 to 2019 Nick was responsible for leading the Services organisation at Hortonworks for Europe, Middle-East & Africa delivering 1,000s of successful modern data and AI solutions for customers and/or partners in the region. Nick led an expansive team which developed and enabled cloud-native solutions and platforms for streaming data, data lake, on-demand compute, data warehouse, data management, data governance, business intelligence and machine learning.

Nick joined Databricks in January 2019 and is currently leading Databricks’ elite technical team for Asia-Pacific and Japan.

In this role, Nick provides thought leadership and guidance for the C-level executives at our major customers around the world. Nick is an experienced executive with a successful track record in a number of category leading software and services companies – Databricks, Hortonworks (now Cloudera), SAS and CSC (now DXC).
